Access Statement


Trevean is situated in the middle of St. Mary’s. 1 minute from the beach and all the main shops at hand. 5 mins from the off island boats. The house sleeps 8 people and is on three floors. The living accommodation is on the top floor and is open plan and airy with views over the harbour. There are two twin bedded rooms on the ground floor and two separate shower rooms. The utility room with washing machine and tumble drier is situated on this level and opens out on to a small yard. The first floor has a twin bedded room and a 5′ double bedded room together with a bathroom and separate WC. All bedrooms have vanity unit and fitted double wardrobes. It is an ideal property for an extended family holiday and being so central to the amenities makes for ease of shopping, eating out and just enjoying the beaches.

Access to the island is by  small plane from Lands End, Exeter, Southampton and Newquay airports and the boat from Penzance. All the airport arrivals are met by mini buses which will take you and your luggage to your holiday home. Collection for your return journey can also be arranged at this time. When travelling by boat provided your luggage is labelled it will automatically be taken to your holiday destination. Our house is about 5 mins walk from the quay where the boat docks and can be found in the middle of town opposite the paper shop and down the alley next to the steamship company office. Return luggage can be collected by the Island Carriers and taken to the boat for you on the morning of your departure.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

When making your final payment I will give you the telephone number of my property manager who will arrange to meet you on your arrival and show you over the property, answer any questions you may have and give you any information to make your stay enjoyable.

Entrance to Property

There are no handrails or ramp to the front door. There is one step and the door is standard front door opening into the tiled hallway. There are two bedrooms on this level which are carpeted and standard width doors.

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

Hallway is narrow and tiled leading to the two shower rooms (which have no safety fittings or hand rails) not suitable for wheelchair users. The passageway continues on to the Utility room containing the washing machine and tumble drier.

Hall stairs and landings are well lit with spot lighting. Stairs are carpeted with short pile carpet.

There are about 14 steps to a small turn landing which off to the right is situated the bathroom and separate toilet. Going off to the left and up 4 steps you come on to the landing which has two bedrooms (standard size doors) following on up another flight of stairs approx. 10 there is a turn on the stairs and another short flight approx. 6 steps to the open plan kitchen/diner and lounge.

Sitting Room/Lounge

This is a spacious carpeted area with two settees and 3 single chairs.

  • There are two coffee tables.
  • The single chairs are the IKEA bent back chairs.
  • There is a 3 seat and a two seat settee
  • Wall lighting and two standard lamps.
  • T.V. table with flat screen T.V.

Dining Room

  • This is situated as a Kitchen/Diner
  • Flooring is Vinyl and all work surfaces are standard height
  • Table seats 8 and is wooden and of standard height
  • Chairs are armless and wooden
  • Lighting over the table
  • Plenty of space around it for high chair (which is provided)


  • Floor the same as dining area.
  • Work surfaces standard height.
  • Oven under work surface with hob on top. Oven door drops down.
  • Fridge freeze – large – height 6′, fridge on top freezer below.
  • Spot lighting and under wall cupboard lighting.
  • Wall cupboards are large and need a stool or tall person to reach the top shelves.

Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas

  • Two 3ft twin bedded room on ground floor – carpeted short pile.
  • One 3ft Twin  bedded room and a 5ft double bedroom on first floor.
  • Cot in double room.
  • Vanity unit in each and double wardrobes.
  • Shaver point in vanity unit.
  • Bedside cupboards next to each bed.
  • Two small bedside chairs in each room.
  • Dressing table in each room
  • Small wooden chest in each room.
  • Good quality linen
  • Feather pillows
  • Duvets
  • Doors standard size

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets

  • Ground floor has two separate shower rooms containing shower wash basin and WC.
  • No steps into these areas
  • First floor has bathroom containing bath WC and wash basin.
  • Small stairs and small landing to these.
  • Separate WC also on first floor.
  • None of the shower rooms or bathroom would suit wheelchair users.
  • All rooms lit with spot lights.
  • Towel rails and heaters in all rooms

Laundry/Utility Room

  • Utility room on the ground floor with door to small back yard and line.
  • Contains Washing Machine and Tumble Drier.
  • One heavy fire door to negotiate into Utility room.
  • Not suitable for wheel chair users.
  • Well lit by windows
  • Has a hanging rail.

  • All information for a safe and happy stay on the island is contained in the welcome pack provided on arrival.
  • Information on Doctors Surgery hours and the Pharmacy is also contained in the information pack
  • We are exactly opposite the Tourist Information Centre where information on the island and trips can easily be obtained.
